This session with Lea and David was extra special—not just because it marked the beginning of their exciting journey into parenthood, but because Lea has been such a dear friend and creative collaborator over the years. From our first shoot together in Eastern Washington to countless styled shoots and wedding days, we’ve captured a lot of beauty together. So, when she asked me to document this sweet new chapter, I felt truly honored.

Documenting a Baby Announcement for a Longtime Friend

Lea, the artist behind Enora Creative Co., has brought her creative magic to many of my favorite shoots, including our Cannon Beach elopement and Olive Studio bridal editorial. This time, though, it was all about her and David as they prepare to welcome their baby girl, Eleanor.

We planned this Laguna baby announcement photoshoot while I was in SoCal for a few other sessions. We chose Woods Cove based on a Laguna Beach local’s recommendation. Tucked away at the bottom of Fairview Street, the cove offers an especially perfect blend of natural beauty and intimacy.

Lea is the queen of details. So, of course, we started with a styled flat lay—baby onesie, ultrasound photos, and fresh florals arranged on a beachside boulder. The vibe matched her Enora brand: timeless, romantic, and beautifully intentional. This setup also reflected her passion for meaningful photography.

She and David began in classic beach attire—Lea in a white dress, David in neutrals—cradling her bump and holding their announcement photos. I shot both film and digital to capture the soft light and emotional tones, creating a collection of images they’ll treasure.

Blue Hour at the Beach with the Parents-to-Be

Then, as the sun lowered and the sky turned its signature blue, the couple changed into casual outfits. Think oversized button-down (open at the belly), t-shirt, and jeans—perfect for splashing in the surf and chasing light. They didn’t mind getting their feet wet. We laughed, danced, and embraced the joy of this milestone.

Woods Cove showed off that evening. Deep blue water and rugged rock formations created a dreamy backdrop. Each frame felt honest, emotional, and full of life, just like the two of them.
