Hood River Wedding

Sandra + Joe’s Hood River wedding!

Going into this, I was so excited to shoot Sandra and Joe’s wedding. I feel a little like I’ve been a part of things since the beginning with these two. I’d already done three other sessions for them before shooting their Hood River Wedding. First, they did a studio couple session with me in Seattle. Then, I photographed their Malibu proposal. And after that, I worked with them again for their engagement couple session at Sunrise at Mount Rainier. So, getting to be their wedding photographer felt like an incredible extension of the work I’d already done for this beautiful couple.

There were many amazing parts about working on this wedding. One was getting the chance to spend the weekend in Portland since Hood River is just an hour east of the city. Another was working with Jamie, the owner of West Coast Gather Co, a great wedding biz friend. She is so excellent at what she does. She always ensures every detail is beautiful, which was especially true for Sandra and Joe’s Hood River wedding. It was a beautiful day, from the stunning venue to the graphic signage, gorgeous white florals, and all the vintage modern touches.

Typically, you’d be able to see mountains on each side of this venue, but the weather was not very cooperative on Sandra and Joe’s big day. There were a lot of clouds in the sky, blocking the mountain views, and we went from super windy weather to rain to bright sunshine. It made shooting the ceremony of this Hood River wedding a bit challenging. But thankfully, we had a stunning sunset for the bridal session. We got some beautiful photos of the gorgeous couple. And, of course, we had to get a few blurry shots for that added touch of nostalgia.

This wedding had so many beautiful, modern but vintage details. My favorite things they incorporated were the neon “cheers” sign and champagne tower, the polaroid photo guestbook, and the bride’s custom “Mrs” jean jacket. This couple even wanted some of their photography to feel extra vintage and nostalgic, so they added a roll of film to their photography package with me. It’s so fun to shoot in film and see how the photos come out after the roll is developed. For those who didn’t know, I offer film add-ons for some of my sessions. Contact me to find out more!

We finished the night with a champagne toast, flash photography, and a sparkler exit. I love how Sandra and Joe’s Hood River wedding photos turned out. The mix of light, fresh digital photography, film, and flash photos gives this shoot a romantic, timeless feel. I think these final edits perfectly highlight the modern but vintage aesthetic of this couple’s wedding.
