Emilia + Shark’s Laguna Beach engagement photoshoot!

This session was so fun to work on for a bunch of reasons. Before we ever booked this shoot, I’d already been following Emilia on social media for a while. I’m obsessed with her vibe, and I think she and Shark make the cutest couple. So, when I saw Emilia’s post about getting engaged, I was so, so excited for them! I instantly started dreaming about how amazing it would be to shoot their wedding.

Then, when my travel dates lined up with Emilia and Shark’s availability for an engagement shoot, we all knew we had to make it happen! I already had a trip to SoCal booked for a wedding and plans to stay with my sister. So, we booked this session during that trip. Laguna Beach is one of my favorite southern California beaches. It’s a gorgeous area with both ocean and beachy cliff background options. So, I was super excited to shoot here with Emilia and Shark. And, because I did a session at this location last year, I didn’t even have to scout before the session.

I wanted to capture as many natural, organic moments as possible during the shoot. So, I went with a more documentary style instead of the typical pose-and-shoot portrait session approach. I didn’t give many posing prompts and mostly just let Emilia and Shark play around on the beach together while I shot. I love the authentic emotion and genuine connection these final film and digital edits convey.

Overall, I am so happy with how Emilia and Shark’s Laguna Beach engagement session turned out. I know this couple will be able to look back at these photos years from now and remember exactly how they felt at this moment in their love story. And that’s exactly what I want for all my couples!
