Melissa + Andrew’s Colorado engagement session!

I first spoke to Melissa when she reached out to inquire about her and Andrew’s Telluride Colorado wedding. We didn’t initially plan to do an engagement session as well. But Melissa wanted to surprise Andrew with a photoshoot while they were in Colorado to check out the venue and solidify a few other wedding details. So, we all met in Colorado for this slightly last-minute engagement session!

Since Telluride is in the mountains, we couldn’t schedule this shoot until after all the snow melted. So, even though it was just a month before their wedding date, we booked Melissa and Andrew’s Colorado engagement session for June. Fun fact: This trip was also the first time Andrew and Melissa saw their venue in person. Just a month before their wedding! They chose and booked their venue based on a topographical map and their super detailed must-have list for their wedding location. Talk about a leap of faith!

I found the location for this session on a planner friend’s account, and it looked like the perfect spot for Melissa and Andrew’s shoot. Chris and I traveled together and stayed in Denver to explore the area. We spent some time in Rocky Mountain National Park, which was beautiful!

But I was a little surprised by the Colorado weather. It ended up being much more like the Midwest than I expected. There were crazy thunder and lightning storms and storm warnings on our drive to the shoot location. Luckily, the sky cleared, and the weather was perfect for our session. The only downside of the shoot was all the mosquitos. Later, I counted, and I got almost thirty mosquito bites!

I’d previously had the chance to do a mentor session with Melissa for her photography business, so she and I had already talked a lot before this shoot. And even though this was the first time we met in person, it felt like I already knew them. Overall, I had so much fun with Melissa and Andrew during their Colorado engagement session!
