Emma + Austin’s Seattle summer wedding!
This bride and I have known each other and have been friends for years, so this wedding was special! We have worked together for a few previous photoshoots, and last year, I shot Emma and Austin’s engagement session at Gold Creek Pond. So, shooting this couple’s wedding was an incredible extension of the relationship I had already built with them.
This Seattle summer wedding took place at Emma and Austin’s church. The church was very modern, and the wedding décor embraced that with a lot of vintage mid-century touches. Another high school friend of ours, Greer, did the beautiful florals. The elegant arrangements went a long way to add softness to an otherwise very modern, clean-lined space.
Before the ceremony, we did a first look with Emma and her dad and then another with Emma and Austin. She wrote a letter to each of them and took a moment to read those aloud during the first looks. There were lots of tears.
Then, after the ceremony, Emma, Austin, the bridal party, and I, along with Chris, who came to assist, went to Discovery Park to take the bridal party and couple photos. We wanted a different vibe for the bridal session of this Seattle summer wedding than we could get at the church. The park was perfect for that, with beautiful blue skies and golden fields.
Emma and Austin rode with us to the park, and it was really funny because Chris and I kept joking with each other, “not for any other client!” You could tell Emma and I have been friends for a long time. I let her use my Chapstick, shared my water with her, and stuffed my face with food in front of her and Austin. I definitely wouldn’t do that in front of any other bride!
Being involved in so many of Emma’s big life moments has been amazing. This Seattle summer wedding was an honor to be a part of!
