Joanna + Walker’s Phoenix Arizona couple session!

Another shoot working with one of my friends! I think I was in high school when I first connected with Joanna. We found each other on Instagram years ago, and I feel like we became friends through the app before we ever had a chance to meet in person. We didn’t ever live in the same area, so we never crossed paths in person.

That is, not until I happened to find myself in Joanna’s new home state. My mom and I were traveling to Phoenix, AZ because my mom had never visited before, and we wanted to explore the area together. When I posted about the trip, Joanna reached out. That’s when I remembered that Joanna is now based in Arizona while she attends GCU. So, of course, we had to plan a photoshoot!

Joanna and her boyfriend, Walker, met when they were in school. They are super cute together and a lot of fun, so we wanted to keep their Phoenix, Arizona couple session very relaxed, light-hearted, and playful. I picked the Superstition Mountains for their session location since it’s just outside the city but still gives you a ton of desert vibes.

When we met up for the shoot, we all clicked right away. Joanna is a fellow photographer, so we talked about photography and joked around about how Walker looks a lot like Tom Holland if you catch him at the right angle. We had a lot of fun with this shoot, as you can tell from some of the playful, goofy shots I got at the end. 

The way the light was hitting the mountains for this Phoenix, Arizona couple session was so perfect. The setting sun lit up the cliffs in such unique ways and turned them all a beautiful pink. All in all, it was a lovely photoshoot with my new old friend!
