Melissa + Andrew’s Telluride Colorado wedding!
This wedding was a dream booking! I got to shoot at a truly breathtaking venue and met the sweetest couple. Melissa and Andrew are so kind, and Melissa and I have connected over our shared love of photography. After booking me, Melissa was also gifted a mentor session with me. So, I got to know her even before we met in person. We had a lot of fun!
Initially, Andrew and Melissa planned to have their wedding in Northern California. But they eventually changed their minds and decided on a Telluride Colorado wedding. Since these two live in New York, they actually chose this venue based on topography. They didn’t even see the location in person until a month before their wedding when we shot their Colorado engagement session. They wanted somewhere with few trees, no red rocks, and beautiful mountains, so Telluride ticked all their boxes!
I was so excited when Melissa told me that the wedding was going to be here. I’d heard of Telluride and always wanted to go, so it was incredible to get a booking here! Telluride and Mountain Village create one beautiful Colorado destination high up in the Rocky Mountains. A free, thirteen-minute-long gondola ride connects the two towns and is such a unique feature of the area.
On the wedding day, Andrew and Melissa got ready in two little cabins near each other with their massive bridal party. I took some getting-ready photos; then, I put together their flat lay. This ended up being one of my favorite things about this wedding. I laid out Melissa’s lace robe on the bedsheets and arranged the gorgeous stationery that Gates Paper Co. created for this wedding. And I am obsessed!
After that, we all took vans to the first look location, which was still in the valley. Melissa and Andrew did their first look; then, I shot the bridal party and family photos. From there, we got back in the vans and headed up to the ceremony via a road that isn’t usually open to the public.
Seeing things from the ground was so cool since you typically have to take the gondola to get up the mountain. San Sophia Overlook, where Melissa and Andrew’s ceremony took place, has stunning views of the surrounding mountain range. It was a beautiful backdrop for this couple’s “I dos.”
Lastly, we walked over to Allred’s restaurant for Andrew and Melissa’s Telluride Colorado wedding reception. Massive windows in the reception space provided fantastic mountain views. And all the food was amazing, including the fun late-night Nutella milkshakes and grilled cheeses. Yum!
Overall, this was such a great day! Everything went according to plan, and the reception was so fun. Weddings and couples like this are why I honestly love what I do! And I would love to help you capture memories just as beautiful as these. Please click here to learn more about working with me. Then, connect with me here to inquire.
