Andria + Matt’s Sunset Cliffs San Diego engagement session!

This beautiful couple hired me to shoot their wedding coming up this summer. And, while I was visiting my sister in San Diego, Andria and Matt also decided to book me for this Sunset Cliffs San Diego engagement session. I did two other sessions while on this trip too, so it was a good mix of photography and family time! 

This shoot, my Laguna Beach shoot, and the session at Torrey Pines are all great examples of why I love doing sessions along SoCal’s coast. The area has so many amazing locations to capture heirloom-quality images! If you love coastal ocean vibes, you can’t go wrong booking a SoCal session with me.

Unlike my Laguna Beach and Torrey Pines sessions, I had previous experience shooting at this location. So, for Andria and Matt’s Sunset Cliffs San Diego engagement session, I didn’t have to do quite as much scouting. I had a few different spots pinned from last time, so I checked them all out before the shoot. Then, I chose the least busy one so we wouldn’t have to fight the crowds as much. 

As you’d probably expect from the name, Sunset Cliffs is a very, very popular spot at sunset. So, even though the evening is gorgeous, I’d definitely recommend a sunrise session here instead. That way, you still get the beautiful light and stunning coastline with craggy jutting cliffs, but you don’t have to fight the crowds.

On the day of the shoot, Andria, Matt, and I clicked instantly. These two are such a sweet couple, and we ended up having a lot in common. We talked a bunch about all kinds of things. Connecting over our faith, jobs, and more was really cool. Like me, they love Jesus. And Andria and I realized we share an irrational fear of sharks. 

We got great natural shots of Andria and Matt having fun together. I gave them some silly prompts so I could capture authentic laughter and genuine smiles. Overall, the final edits from this Sunset Cliffs San Diego engagement session have a dreamy feel. I am so excited to head back to San Diego in May to photograph their wedding!
