Stormy Cliffside Big Sur Engagement Photography Session

Paige + Christopher’s stormy Big Sur engagement photography shoot!

This beautiful couple hired me as the wedding photographer for their 2025 NorCal wedding in Winters, CA. Since I include engagement photos in my wedding packages, Christopher and Paige looked at my travel dates and booked their engagement session for when I planned to be in Big Sur for a wedding. Monterey and Big Sur have some of my favorite spots to shoot in California. So, I couldn’t wait to capture some timeless, organic engagement photos for these two!

Paige is a NorCal native who swore she’d find her soulmate “organically.” But, despite thinking dating apps were silly, she actually met her fiancé on Hinge! Christopher and Paige have been together for over two years now, and they can’t imagine life without each other. These two have an authentic love for the ages. Above all, they remind each other to live intentionally and soak up every precious moment.

Choosing the Perfect Big Sur Engagement Photography Location

Although Christopher and Paige love exploring new places and experiencing new things, they decided to keep this photo session close to home. And I’m glad that they did! The Big Sur area is a stunning stretch of coast with beautiful beaches, epic cliffs, and endless coastal views. And since I spent time in this part of California last year, I already had some pre-scouted locations and saved pins of my favorite spots.

Ultimately, we settled on Garrapata State Park for Paige and Christopher’s Big Sur engagement photography session. The park has a lovely trail loop that follows the coastline and a fantastic variety of views. With its rocky cliffs, ocean views, and deep earthy tones contrasted by bright wildflowers, I knew Garrapata Beach would provide the perfect spot for capturing timeless, organic engagement shots.

Documenting Every Unforgettable, Organic Moment

The weather on the day of Christopher and Paige’s engagement session ended up being stormier than we expected. Yet, the fog rolls out in the distance and cloudy skies created a beautifully intimate, romantic atmosphere. These two chose a half-digital, half-film engagement package, and I love how nostalgic and moody the film turned out. I am also so happy with how timeless and organic these digital edits feel.

All in all, this Big Sur engagement photography gallery shows off all my favorite aspects of couples photography. From the candid moments to the heartfelt laughter to the intimate embraces, I loved capturing it all. Now, I can’t wait for Paige and Christopher’s wedding!
