Everything the intentional couple needs to know about emotive documentary wedding photography.
For me, wedding photography is about so much more than capturing beautiful, picture-perfect images. I believe my purpose as a photographer is to witness and document my couple’s biggest moments as they truly happened. The real beauty lies in those unplanned moments, authentic expressions of love, and heartfelt embraces. And documentary-style wedding photography allows me to capture all that emotion. I want to make your memories into images that take you back in time to that moment, that feeling.
The unposed, the candid, the spontaneous, the imperfect – this approach captures it all. With emotive documentary wedding photography, I document all the little moments that genuinely reflect the events and emotions of your day. Together, we capture the real, the raw, and the heartfelt throughout your wedding day.
I aim to create a visual narrative of your wedding. I capture the close-up details that set the tone and candidly photograph those big moments and all-important “I do’s.” By documenting moments big and small, I collect images that tell the story of your wedding as it organically unfolds. My primary goal is to create images that take you right back into that moment, that feeling.
Documentary photography uses little or no posing. Instead, I give my couples prompts and capture the little moments of authentic emotion in between. Of course, group shots still require some coordination, but for the most part, I emphasize capturing real moments. I want to document the groom looking lovingly into his bride’s eyes because that’s how he truly felt. Instead of staging poses, I want to capture my couples holding each other tenderly because they can’t wait to be alone.
More than beautiful images, documentary wedding photography aims to capture organic emotion. I hope to freeze in time all the little overlooked details that speak to the feeling of the moment. The movement of your dress as he spins you around the dance floor, the tear slipping down your grandma’s cheek during your vows, the too-wide smiles that make your cheeks ache but just keep coming, and so many other moments are what make your love story tangible and unforgettable.
To accomplish this, I forge a genuine connection with my couples. I try to go beyond the basic client/photographer relationship as I truly get to know who you are, what you love, and who’s important to your story. I want to document organic emotions, so I intentionally create a relationship that allows couples to be wholly themselves in front of my lens. That is when the real magic happens.
Ultimately, the documentary approach to wedding photography is perfect for couples who desire a wedding gallery that authentically reflects the true atmosphere of their day.
