Cheridan + Justin’s San Diego beach engagement session on film and digital!

While the weather for this photoshoot wasn’t exactly SoCal picture-perfect, we still had so much fun! I was already in town for Ali and Scott’s romantic courthouse elopement, and I wanted to fill out my trip with another couple session. So, when I learned Cheridan and Justin’s schedule synced up perfectly with mine, it felt like fate.

I’ve followed Cheridan’s style inspo Instagram account for a while and love her aesthetic, which made me even more excited to work on this shoot. Honestly, I so enjoyed meeting her in person! Like Scott and Ali, Justin and Cheridan have planned a wedding in Italy. However, after these two say “I do,” they won’t be coming back to the States anytime soon! Instead, this travel-loving couple will spend as long as they possibly can traveling all over Europe and beyond. So romantic!

Like I mentioned before, the sun wasn’t shining for us during this San Diego beach engagement session. The evening turned stormy, and the tide rose higher than usual, so we couldn’t go too far into the water. Still, we made the most of the time we had. Ultimately, we took advantage of the cloudy weather and captured some really romantic, moody images.

I love working in film, and Cheridan and Justin’s shoot was the perfect opportunity to prioritize film over digital. While I still got some digital shots, I focused mainly on capturing this session’s moody light and heartfelt emotion with my film camera. In the end, I absolutely love how these images turned out. Every shot shows off the authentic love and deep joy this couple shares. And getting to be present and document that kind of raw emotion is why I do what I do.
