Kaitlyn + Patrick’s Browns Point engagement session!

This Minnesota couple booked me for an engagement photography session while they were in Washington, visiting Patrick’s family. Even though both Kaitlyn and Patrick are from the North Dakota/Minnesota area, they love Seattle and the PNW. So, it only felt right for them to get their engagement photos taken here, somewhere on the coast!

Patrick and Kaitlyn have been together for eight years. Some of their favorite ways to spend time together are golfing, traveling, and just watching Netflix while eating sushi. They just got engaged this January, so their trip out here to visit family and see Kalaloch seemed like the perfect time to schedule a PNW engagement session! 

When Kaitlyn inquired about this shoot, she mentioned they wanted a beach location somewhere beautiful and uniquely Pacific Northwest. But they didn’t want to travel to Seattle since they’d be staying in the South Sound area. And I didn’t blame them. The Seattle area has some beautiful beaches, but the drive up there in traffic isn’t exactly fun.

So, Kaitlyn asked me for location recommendations for the shoot, which was perfect because I grew up in Tacoma and know lots of great spots. Ultimately, we settled on Browns Point since it’s easy to get to and nearby. This spot also has a lighthouse for added coastal vibes. Browns Point is so close to home for me that it was actually “the spot” where my friends and I hung out in high school. It was funny going back now to do a shoot there. I loved it!

I got to know Kaitlyn and Patrick a bit more during their Browns Point engagement session. We talked about their lives, where they live, and the fact that my mom is also from Minnesota. I used my 24-70mm lens for this shoot, even though I usually use a 35mm lens. I loved the versatility of this lens, and I don’t think I’ll ever switch back!
