Jordan’s Woods Cove bridal photography session was a dreamy, editorial escape into everything I love about creative, film-focused shoots. With its hidden coves, rugged rock formations, and soft ocean views, Laguna Beach gave us the perfect backdrop for a gallery that feels both elevated and organic.
Basically, this dress started it all. I spotted an incredible Georgia Hardinge gown on The Dress Rental Co. and instantly knew I had to photograph it. Even with shipping delays from Florida storms and a last-minute model swap, everything came together beautifully. Jordan stepped in seamlessly, and her energy perfectly matched the vision.
We styled her look with unique florals from Good Floral Co. and layered delicate jewelry for a soft, editorial edge. With the stunning textures of Woods Cove Beach, crashing waves, and moss-covered cliffs as our backdrop, it felt like creating art rather than staging a typical wedding day portrait session.
When the shoot day arrived, I decided to make this session fully film. It was a spur-of-the-moment choice, but I didn’t even touch my digital camera for this one. Shooting only film slows the pace, invites presence, and captures light and motion with a nostalgic softness that digital can’t replicate. We wandered the shoreline, followed the curve of the coastal cliffs, and leaned into the quiet beauty of the space.
From barefoot shots in the wet sand to framing Jordan against the rugged rock formations, every image felt cinematic and especially connected to the coastal setting. The final gallery carries hints of ocean air, golden glow, and the wildness of California’s coastline. All in all, it shows exactly why I adore these kinds of places to elope. Here in Laguna Beach, endless pockets of shoreline meet the expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
I love creating shoots like this because they offer space to experiment while showing brides what’s possible for their own wedding day portraits. Editorial sessions spark inspiration for couples envisioning intentional, artful portraits on their own wedding photography journey. If you’re dreaming of a session location that offers privacy, natural textures, and effortless romance, Woods Cove is an incredible choice.
