Savannah and Laurence’s SoCal film engagement photography session!
This shoot was a vibe from start to finish. We shot everything on film, capturing the subtle shifts in light, texture, and emotion in a way only film can. Soft tones, gentle grain, and honest connection—this gallery shows off everything I love about all-film sessions.
A SoCal Film Engagement Photography Session to Remember
I first met Savannah while photographing Karley and Bryan’s San Juan Island wedding last year. Karley, one of my past brides, happens to be Savannah’s cousin—and also had Savannah on glam duty that day. I remember noticing her expertly working on Karley and thinking, “I want her to do my hair.” She’s so good and she styled Karley perfectly!
I didn’t know then that Savannah was looking for a photographer. But when Savannah and Laurence reached out about wedding photography, I was thrilled. I’ll be capturing their wedding in San Luis Obispo this summer. So, this session gave us the perfect excuse to hang out and get to know each other better before the big day.
Sunset, Sand, and Intimate Connection
We met up at a quiet stretch of Laguna Beach, just past the rocky cliffs near Montague. Savannah wore a rib-knit, off-the-shoulder cream maxi dress for their first look. Meanwhile, Laurence kept it cool in a linen button-down and khakis. Their second look leaned even more romantic. Savannah changed into a white slip dress, and Laurence wore a rich brown sweater. The outfits paired beautifully with the soft, peachy glow of golden hour.
The sun slipped lower while these two played in the water, wandered the shore, and simply enjoyed their time together. I loved the quiet moments between poses—the way they looked at each other, laughed, and leaned in close. Those real moments are what make film engagement photos so timeless.
If you’re dreaming of a relaxed, romantic session by the ocean, SoCal film engagement photography is a beautiful way to capture the essence of your connection.
Why I Love Film for Engagement Photos
There’s something about film that slows you down. It invites presence. It prioritizes feeling over perfection—and that’s why I love using it for couple sessions. For Savannah and Laurence’s shoot, I wanted to highlight both their connection and the incredible coastal scenery. If you’re looking for a Southern California wedding photographer who values intentional, meaningful images, I’d be honored to document your story.
Whether you’re planning your own engagement photos or hoping to elope in Laguna Beach, this area is one of my favorite places to shoot. From the rocky coastline to the glowing skies, it offers the perfect balance of drama and romance for your love story.
You can learn more about my wedding photography packages, or reach out here to inquire. I’d love to help you plan a beach elopement experience or capture your engagement with a timeless touch. Let’s document your next chapter in a way that feels like you.
