Lauren and Cody’s Discovery Park engagement photoshoot was the perfect blend of romance and adventure. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Puget Sound, this session captured their connection and channeled Southern California beach vibes—right here in Seattle. Although Seattle can’t quite replicate the warmth of SoCal, Discovery Park offers a stunning alternative with its golden glow, tall grass, and open fields. Altogether, these details created an effortlessly elevated aesthetic for Cody and Lauren’s session.

L + C’s Authentic Connection

Lauren and Cody have been together for five years, and their love story is one for the books. They got engaged while celebrating their anniversary at Suncadia, and their bond is undeniable. During our engagement session, it was easy to see that they are truly best friends. Interestingly, Lauren and I connected over our mutual love for Metropolitan Market, which made our time together even more enjoyable. As we explored Discovery Park, their laughter and natural ease made for beautiful engagement photos that reflect their deep connection.

Creating the Perfect Discovery Park Engagement Photoshoot Experience

When planning their engagement photo session, Lauren expressed her vision for a SoCal beach vibe. While Seattle may not offer sandy beaches and palm trees, Discovery Park provided the next best thing. With its sweeping water views and long grass, the location was about as close as you can get to SoCal Coastal in the PNW. Additionally, we chose a time of day when the sun would cast the perfect dreamy golden glow on the park, bringing Lauren’s coastal vision to life.

A Fun and Effortless Session

From the beginning, Lauren and Cody were an absolute joy to work with. They opted for an all-digital session, allowing us to easily capture every fleeting moment. Also, for her engagement session dress, Lauren chose a sheer white dress over a swimsuit. This added an upscale yet relaxed feel to the shoot, complementing the natural surroundings perfectly. They danced together on top of the hill, enjoying every second, and toward the end, Lauren excitedly asked, “Can we just run out to the field?” Of course, I said yes, and those lower-light shots turned out to be some of my favorites.
