Anita + Derek’s romantic Laguna Beach couple session!

As a wedding and couple’s photographer, I love it when I get the chance to shoot photos for other creatives. And that’s just what I got to do for this session. Anita is a digital creator and model. I’ve followed her for a while now and love her account. So, this opportunity to shoot a couple session for her and her husband, Derek, really excited me!

When I first started following her, Anita lived in the Seattle area, but she and Derek now live in Dana Point, California. Even though I travel to California frequently, I’m based in Washington. So, I knew I’d need to make the trip down to SoCal for this romantic Laguna Beach couple session. Then, when I found myself in Newport for work, it ended up being the perfect time to plan a session with Anita, too.

While I’ve shot at Laguna Beach before (most recently when I did Emilia and Shark’s engagement photos), this specific location was new to me. But since this spot was recommended by both Anita and another friend of mine, I had to go for it. On shoot day, I got to the location early with Trader Joe’s snacks and Kindle in hand. There, I enjoyed some much-needed beach time before the session.

Then, when Anita and Derek arrived for their sunset photoshoot, we got to work. It was so much fun documenting these two. As they splashed in the waves and ran around on the beach, I captured so many moments of organic movement, connection, and laughter. Ultimately, this romantic Laguna Beach couple session was equal parts playful and intimate. It was my honor to witness Anita and Derek’s unique love.
