Aysia + Noah’s Joshua Tree couple session!

This is the first time in a while that I’ve shot in Joshua Tree National Park. So, I was super excited to work on Noah and Aysia’s session. The couple lives in southern California, and Aysia is a fellow wedding photographer. I always take it as a huge compliment when other photographers choose to work with me! Even though an earlier shoot took more out of me than I expected, I really enjoyed working with this couple.

My day started with Anna and Jon’s sunrise session in Palm Springs, and I was exhausted by the time we started this sunset Joshua Tree couple session. I was so glad I didn’t have to scout before this shoot since I saved a few locations the last time I was here. Between the iconic Joshua trees, craggy rock formations, and distant mountains, the national park has a lot of beautiful features. So, I chose spots that let us capture a little bit of everything.

SoCal is my favorite state to work in for couple sessions and weddings, whether it’s a shoot in the desert or on the beach. The weather for Aysia and Noah’s Joshua Tree couple session was pretty windy and cold. But we still had so much fun! I had them running around in the desert so I could capture those authentic moments of joy and connection. The light was just right. And the wind created some great movement, even though it also kept blowing everyone’s hair around.

I love the way these final images turned out! I shot a few film photos but also used my new film preset (coming soon to my preset shop) to give the digitals a nostalgic, filmy look. This couple session is a perfect example of why I love shooting in SoCal. Now, I can’t wait to get back there.
